I've put a whole bunch of pics of the Jeffries Porsche up on my smugmug web page. It documents some of the history of the car through magazine articles and has a bunch of pictures from the seventies as well as through the restoration process.

The Carrera is silver again for the first time since 1961! Its pretty shiny now but we still need to slick up the clear coat and then it should be spectacular. Special formulation Glasurit paint applied by Eurocraft Classics.

I'm sorry but I don't have a color code for the silver - it was custom mixed by Glasurit per Dean Jeffries specifications. They may have provided a formulation specification but the car (and the paint can) is down at the restoration shop about 75 miles south of me now.Jordy Pieper wrote:

Very nice Jack!
Looking forward to seeing this historical Outlaw back on the streets, especially in the SE United States. Do you have an event in mind for unveiling the finished product?
Keep the pic's coming!

The plans are to unveil the car at the 2011 Amelia Island Concours in March. Bill Warner is very excited to have it and is planning to have some other Dean Jeffries cars there as well.
I know that Karl Kirchner is planning on being there with one of the two original "Black Beauty" cars from the TV series the Green Hornet. Karl is just finishing up a three year restoration of one of the two heavily modified Chrysler Imperials that Dean built for the TV show. You can read about it here: http://www.theblackbeauty.com/
In addition we plan to have Dean Jeffries there to see the car in its completed condition. One of the reasons I'm taking my time with it is because I don't want to disappoint the original creator of the car. Dean sets an extremely high standard that I'm not sure I can even approach but I'm going to try to get the car as nice as I can.

I went to visit the Porsche today while it's still in "Body Shop Jail" - it's almost completely buffed out and will very soon be ready to come home to get the interiors and rest of the mechanical components finished up. There is still a lot of work to be done but the bodywork is amazing - its done to a much higher standard than I ever expected to achieve.

Beautiful
Dear Jack, it is absolutely stunning in every way, you are doing everyone in the 356 community a great service by bringing this historic outlaw back to life. Are you going to put a set of Iron Cross Torsion Bar covers on it like Dean had on it back in the day, if so I can help you get some, click below to see how mine turned out.

Take care and keep up the great work, you have had the car for so many years, a few more months to wait for perfection will be well worth it.
Sincerely,
Shane

Shane - your car is looking fantastic - very nice job...
Brett Johnson sent me set of the Iron Cross torsion bar covers back when they first came out. They had asked me for copies of the photos from some of the old magazine articles so they could duplicate them. The new ones are not an exact match but they are pretty close. The painter was working on the ones for my car when I was down there today.
I like your stripe....reminds me of the stripe I was going to do on my car. I was originally going to keep the stripe the same width the length of the car - I don't remember why I thought bringing it to a point at the front was a good idea (we paralleled the edge of the trunk opening) - Jeffries referred to it as the goofy spear stripe and it retrospect he was absolutely right.

The Carrera has finished it's stay at Eurocraft Classics in Manchester, GA where it had all of the rusty and bent bits tended to and a very slick coat of Glasurit applied to its skin. Mike Marcelic has done a phenomenal job in restoring the body and now the car moves to the trim and interior phase of the restoration. After I finish the brakes and polish the drums I'll track down a good set of chrome wheels and mount the new Michelins and get to work on the interior.
The Carrera looks great in silver for the first time since 1961.

Amazing
Dear Jack, as you know I have been religiously following you build since my decision to make an Outlaw back in July of last year. You are absolutely correct that color is amazing and it looks flawless. I am very excited for you. Can't wait to see all the chrome come back onto the car, I wish you all the best with the remainder of your build. You have a very historic vehicle and you are doing us all a service by getting her back on the road in the manner that you are! Thanks for that,
Shane
