What is the correct finish / coating on oil sump covers? Has anyone pulled an unmolested one off an original engine? For 356B parts catalog this is part 539.01.150
I have seen silver. I have also seen black (at least on the outside). The black could of course be years of oil and /or a turkey paint job though. The reproduction ones are silver, and I'm guessing cad plated?
Thank you.

Semi-gloss black. Those "silver" ones just haven't been painted.

Hi Wes. The whole thing, or just the outside portion that is exposed when installed?Wes Bender wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 1:35 pm Semi-gloss black. Those "silver" ones just haven't been painted.

I think only the portion that is exposed. I don't remember the interior being painted. Don't paint the rivet that holds the magnet.
