1963 356 Brown interior material

#1 Post by Scott Mires »

I recently bought a Smyrna Green 1963 S and it has the original Brown interior.
The front seat is badly deteriorating/cracking and the passenger seat has some cracks as well.
I'm looking to recover/rebuild both seats, the rest of the interior, door panels, dash, back seats still look great.
So my interior guru at Autobahn Interiors here in San Diego groaned when he saw the wear and even more when he saw the color.
Seems that Brown color is very hard to find/match since it was not used in many cars.
Does anyone have a lead on Brown material from this period, or know of a matching material/color they've come across.
We looked in books and books and had no luck.
Thanks!
Scott

I’d get the specific interior colors from the Reutter production booklet that’s available for each car. Dark Brown would be very unusual in a Smyrna Green car; my own Smyrna had a special order Black leather. Most were grey or light brown, like a camel color.
