If you really want to know then get a Kardex. I have used David P with excellent service. See this link: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=40611&start=15

C Hansen,
I believe I sent you a reply by personal email that these two options were possible at the factory, however they were not always listed on the Kardex, or the
resulting COAs, since the Kardex was only a warranty card, not the complete and exact listing of what each 356 was given when built.
As Mr. McDonnell indicated, you need to obtain a copy of the Kardex or whatever Porsche will give out these days.
I think some rules have changed recently. Possibly someone would enlighten us.

John the COA is now history. Over the last few years Porsche 1st stopped listing original engine and transmission numbers but would verify your numbers as original if they were. Then the new PPS came out which is similar to the old COA. Now the Top of the line from Porsche is the CTC which requires you to take your car to an official center to be inspected and verified at a cost of $400 I heard. Kardex isn't available from Porsche but from "others" who have a contact with access to the Kardex. Although I had an old COA showing matching numbers I got a Kardex within the last year. Nice thread about all this here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=47972 Bottom line is I encourage anyone to get a Kardex while they still can. I got mine from David P at a cost of about $133 USD.He is entry #13 in the attached link. As far as matching numbers goes since the price runup it seems like more engine numbers have been "Modified"(illegal) to be matching. Buyer beware.
