wheels

#1 Post by Rod R Youssefi »

I suspect the wheels on my 1962 356B T6 are not original given the good condition and the fact that I could not locate any date stampings upon inspection. Are my suspicions correct? If I were to look for originals with matching date stampings, what type of wheels are correct for my model (KPZ, Lemmerz, Sudrad)? Per C of A my vehicle had a completion date of 4/27/1962. Not sure if the tires I currently have on would fit the original wheels.

Probably some of the chrome aftermarket wheels from the late 60s or 70s made in Brazil. Nothing wrong with them as long as you keep the clean and the tomcats away.

Thanks John. Based on the pics do you know what type of wheel or replica wheel this is modeled after? I have been looking at images of the different types online (KPZ, Lemmerz, Sudrad) and it does not look like Sudrad to me. So I am thinking it is either KPZ or Lemmerz???

other than the stampings, i do not believe there are any major differences between KPZ and Lemmerz. All stock wheels were 4.5 x15. your tires should fit on stock wheels no problem. I would try to source some March or April 62 wheels. Adam Wright has quite the collection I hear.

Hi Jules. I took your advice and purchased 4 wheels from Adam dated 4/62. Thanks.

We probably have 40 or so chrome wheels manufactured by someone other than a Porsche supplier. They are good for roll around wheels when the car is in the shop. Stop by you can have all you want at $20.00 each We are just West of D/FW airport. al zim

Take off the tires and read the mfr name and size on the inside of the rim.
