Engine Electrical Components - Looks & Reliability

#1 Post by Dennis Vogel »

I'm currently going through the engine electrical, and planning to replace the wires, rubber, distributor cap, etc. Where have folks had good luck with period correct look, and reliable components? I was only able to find an existing thread from 9 years ago on this topic.

For ignition wires, I see spark plug sets often listed as 356 / 912 compatible, thicker, longer, etc. This is from the usual suspects like Stoddard, and also Klasse 356.

None claiming to be direct replacement for 616.109.952.00. Which leads me to believe they're probably not the correct style. We're working on a 1960 T5 Super 90.

Thank you.

I checked a couple of other vendors as well and it seems they all sell essentially the same thing. Aside from the wire diameter, I see a difference in the spark plug connectors and rubber boots as well. Maybe someone has an old set they want to sell or, at the least, try to find original spark plug connectors.
