Original 56 cpe
Obviously, before computers, perhaps 1980. An all original car, including paint showing interior details. Photo of photo. Desert tan over red, the original red that no one seems to have been able to duplicate. Arm/hand belongs to old Al Zim.

Re: Original 56 cpe
Roy, the red color and sheen can be duplicated, I have done it. Getting the exact texture vinyl is the real problem. Joris

Re: Original 56 cpe
On the second picture the red vinyl rectangle that Al is pointing to, that piece is an original feature?

Still looking for a 56' coupe, in Lago green metallic in the California region. Would like to see the color in person, opposed to pictures only. Please contact me with any information..

Roy, thanks for sharing the great photos!
Martin, yes. That little bit of artificial leather goes back to pre-A construction. Here's a photos of original interiors on two 1953 coupes (2nd is mine).

yes correct on the carpet binding. This photo of the car (all original paint) was outside Al's shop soon after he built and moved in.

Re: Original 56 cpe
I've noticed the colored binding under the aluminum carpet retainer at the lower A-pillar.
Was that a 56 only procedure.
So many have been re-done by God knows who we've lost valuable reference.
Tom Scott, what think you?

Norm, that's a pre-A and T1 thing. See photos below for 2 examples from 1953. It was leatherette and often matched the carpet, but not always.
