The 356B factory parts book lists only one backup light unit. A couple I've checked have the number 62548 molded into the lens. Another one I have has a clear lens marked 113772 and has a yellow reflector -- is this a Porsche unit or VW? Something else?

I've studied the B/C cars quite a bit, so here is my free opinion- which could be what it is worth!

I'm attaching below two photos of what I consider to be "correct"/ original reverse light lens and bezel. This matches what I have seen of very original cars. The problem with these components is that there were a zillion variations of the lens as time marched on. Also, there were variations of the lens that were provided to Volkswagen. My observation is that the reverse light lens progressed with more and more markings into the glass. This progression was much like the progression on the ULO reflectors. Brad Ripley did a great job of explaining the variations he knew of, and he commented that generally the more markings, the newer the lens. See Brad's excellent post here

So, if you want original, no Bosch, only Hella, get the bezel with the stamping, and the glass with markings like the attached.

I just checked my 1962 coupe, and it's markings are 62548, which I believe is original to the car.

122936 has 62548 on both bezel and lens. Lens has Hella logo in center, A in a circle under logo, and "MADE IN GERMANY" at very bottom.

The feedback regarding the 62548 markings are consistent with the conclusions I believe were drawn in the recent Backup Light Lens Marking thread

If you go to the ULO reflector discussion I referenced above, you'll see that the reflectors started out without the "A" (with a circle around it) on them. The "A" was later added, and it appears it was on there to show compliance with some code.

The same appears to have happened with the reverse light glass. Earlier ones did not have the A (with a circle around it) and at some point it was added.

Brett-
To answer your original question, there was only one type of back up light for B/C cars. The other parts were for some other application.
