1957 Sun Visor challenge

#1 Post by David Austin »

I am trying to restore my 1957 sun visors but I'm missing a pair of the chrome corner parts that are screwed onto the visor. Does anyone have a pair with screws stashed away.
If all else fails I will reluctantly take a matching pair of original visors.

early or late 57? I believe the early 57 (T1) still had the plexi sun visors. Pics would help! I have a few cruddy plexiglass visors if that is what you are after.

Hi Rick,
Yes that is exactly what I'm looking for.
The plexi sun visor was for an earlier car than mine.
Do you have a pair ?

Probably not, but is there any chance that that particular part is shared with sun visors from some VW? If so, you might check The Samba's classifieds.

Good luck!

David,
I only have the set that is on my car... that being said that is also an easy part to make. I would try to find original parts first but as a last resort I can make up an extra set.

The little corner piece would have to be formed... I am not sure if this is a chiral piece meaning a left and right hand sides.

Jules and Jim above are correct in that early 57 cars did have the green visors. The approximate time of change and style of visor are given below. If anyone can further refine the chassis numbers or time frames please posts.

From David Austin's post he is looking for the parts for the T-2 vinyl padded visors. Stoddard NLA has those parts in stock; see part numbers in the photo below.
