Authenticity Assistance Help - Newbie

Hi All,

New to the 356 scene and extremely excited to see an active community supporting these vehicles! The vehicle has been sitting covered for some years in a garage in the mountains of Lake Tahoe.

Long story short...we are going to be taking delivery of the car, a 1964 356 C and I want to begin the process of uncovering it's past/history. While preparing the car for shipment I quickly snapped some photos of the locations to compare against this registry's VIN DB. Given the results, it seems the engine number does not match the chassis VIN number I have, but I want to find out more about the original build specs. I have seen mention of obtaining the Kardex, but want to confirm that the information listed on this https://porsche356registry.org/article/242 is still relevant and accurate at this time.

Any information regarding resources to help me on this journey would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

PS. Attached some pics if anyone is interested.

Brian: you might be contacted privately by someone that can provide an electronic copy of the Kardex for you car.

Congrats on your acquisition and welcome to our 356 community!

Mike

Thanks Mike, that would be great! Really looking forward to bringing this one back to driveable condition and learning all that I can from it.

Welcome, Brian. The engine number is never a match for the chassis number. A kardex will give you the information.
