T-1 Seat Cushions

#1 Post by Steve Nau »

Ready for the upholstery shop but having no luck finding new foam seat cushions for my 1956 T-1 coupe.
Any suggestions? I have tried K&H, Autos Intl, World, Heritage. I got no response yet from World or Heritage.
There are none shown on the World website though.

They must have been different in 56. Autos Intl said they don't have them for a 1956.

Sounds odd. Autos did mine for my '56 about 3 years ago. Wood frame. I repaired my frames and sent them, but Autos said at the time that they had new frames available. I modified my frames with steel inserts and bolts at the ends of the tracks, substituting for the original wood screws which took the load when you leaned back. I also replaced the rivet holding the slide lock with a nut and bolt to make chroming the lever easier. I would check with them again, maybe they only sell the whole job-which turned out well by the way.

I know of no difference between 56 and 57T1 seats. The padding is exactly the same.

Agree. The seats from Jan 1953 through Aug 1957 were essentially unchanged. The padding is interchangeable, though none of it was foam. ;-)
