Can anyone help? I have the never had a spare in my car since Ive owned it. I had a correct stamped rim that I purchases Vredestein tire size 165HR 15 86H installed and it will not slide in the slot between the battery and jack like my coupe. Is this an issue anyone has had? Do speedsters and conv d spares sit on top of the area that the VIN is tamped on?

They store in the usual spot. Is your jack blocking it!

The 59 coupe is the same as your car. The spare doesn't just drop in usually since it is a tight fit but you shouldn't have to use force either. The jack is held by clamps in front of the spare and those can be bent such that they make the tire hard to install. They can also be bent forward and out of the way. The jack needs to be removed to remove the spare tire. A 165 tire is fine but some wider tires won't fit.

Should the car have been in a front collision and repaired it's possible the inner tub has been compressed and not repaired.
Do a comparison with another car. (that carries a spare)

My spare will only fit all the way in once I take my battery cover out.

it fits fine on my 57 and 59 with a 165 15 Vredestein tire, with the battery cover installed and the jack in place. Make sure the jack peg is pointing up, or is at least out of the way and that the carrier is out of the way a little.
