Key for T-5 1960 glovebox lock

#1 Post by Eric Lenius »

The Kardex for the T-5 1960 coupe I am working on says "PoA" in the box for the glovebox key. Does that ring a bell with anyone? Any meaning?

Regards,

Eric L.

I wonder what is meant by that. Normally a key code would be there. Perhaps Dan Roman can figure out what the number is by checking the tumbler.

A rare lock, too, in the aftermarket.

I have seen probably 50 Kardexes over the years, and PoA is all I have ever seen in that field.

Maybe just the later ones had key codes. This one is for my 65 SC.

The Kardex for my late C also includes the glovebox key number.

I've handled a few Kardex cards in the past and been involved with fielding questions about those documents. Regarding entries of glove box key numbers, it wasn't always consistent but here's what I know. Remember, Kardex cards were Service Dept documents for warranty purposes and you can imagine that glove box key numbers weren't much of an issue for customer claims.

See list below for the top part of several cards with the glove box key yellow hi-lighted. They entered "PoA" in the block starting 1959. Also note that a line was drawn across the card which indicated that the warranty was expired in the US. You'll see that there were three types of key numbers -- see key numbers and types below.

I do not know why the "PoA" was entered during the years 1959 to sometime in 1962. BTW, US-delivery Conv D, Roadster and the last Carrera Speedsters cards had the same PoA in the block even thou those cars didn't have glove boxes. So I don't have a good answer to Eric's question.
