B-pillar-what goes in the hole?

So on the B pillar, a few inches up from the threshold there is a hole (at the center of a stamped round spot). What goes in this hole, rubber plug? Have been looking for a door jamb schematic, have found no reference. I've got a 356 T-6 B coupe. Maybe once I find what goes in the hole I can figure out why it is there. But be great to know why it exists? Access to something I figure. Thanks for the help.

Does the hole line up with the lower hinge pin? If so, it should have a rubber plug. Most cars I see are missing it. The other hole I believe is for the sunroof drain tube.

Thanks Mike, this hole is on the B pillar, so below the door strike..

That spot shouldn't have a hole in it, it is just a stamped depression. I have never seen a plugged hole there.

Sorry for my confusion. Martin is correct, no hole should be there.

Brian,

Do you have a picture of the area showing the hole.

Since the stamping was introduced at the very end of the T5 body run, I'm thinking it was added at the recommendation of either Karmann or D'Ieteren to secure a body alignment fixture or jig that they used (and Reutter didn't) and the engineers from Stuttgart liked what they saw.

Put bubblegum in it.

D'ieteren did not make t6 coupes. I have never seen a hole there on either a t5 nor a t6. Pix would help

All T6 (and some very late T-5) cars had the stamping, regardless of coachbuilder and body style.

I guess we need clarification of what a 'hole' is. Is it an indent or an actual hole. From how it reads in the first post, there is an actual hole in the indentation.

Are we talking about the indent on the lockpost like in the photo below. You might find other holes around the body/chassis with little yellow plugs embossed with "Ziebart" .

That would be a hell of a place for Ziebart to drill a hole and spray undercoating on your rear tire.

Shops that did Ziebart would drill holes in the unlikely places, especially when mostly working on domestic cars.
