Just for fun, notice that in the first half of this Porsche 356 factory production YouTube video that the fan shrouds are silver, then when they get to the engine installation (3:30) the fan shroud is BLACK!

Re: Authentic fan shroud color black or silver
I am not sure when they changed, but later engines had silver for S and black for N. Earlier ones (maybe pre-A and earlier) were black regardless.

Did the silver begin along with Zenith carbs?

The body style seems to reveal that this movie was recorded during the 1960 production year. As far as I know, the 356B with the rounded hood and single vent in the engine lid was a one year only phenomenon.

It was 60, 61, and at least part of 62 that has that style.

According to this https://porsche356registry.org/article/38, the super 90 fan shroud was silver grey in '60. Am I reading this correctly. Also, the link to the whole article appears defunct. Bummer.

Re: Authentic fan shroud color black or silver
Martin;
I have a very early T6, and I don’t have a Kardex, but I believe that they started production after July 1961. Maybe someone could verify that. According to the numbers it would indicate that my coupe would have been the 68th T6 and the 38th Super 90 engine.
It is as mentioned a Super 90, and I believe that they painted the shroud sort of an ivory color, it’s not white, and doesn’t appear grey either.
I have not owned the car since new so there is no way for me to verify that it’s not been painted since new. I bought it in 1978, and the car had been painted on the exterior but it didn’t look as though the engine parts had been.
