Fog light switch on a BT5-Coupe

#1 Post by Helge Tielker »

Guys,

I have a question. I have seen that my wiper switch more look like a foglight switch.

So a few question:
a.) Has foglight been an option on BT5 cars?
b.) what does the wiper switch look like (original) and where is it places in the BT5 dashboard
c.) what does a fog light switch look like (original) and where has it (normally/ factory) been installed in a BT5.

thanks once more to this big experienced group sharing information.

Suggest you look at the pictures in the Driver's Manual, you do have one don't you ?
Secondly, look at you 356B parts manual where you will find P/N 644.613.501.01,
then if you search Stoddard's website for this number, you will see.
Also if you see Der White's site and look for Service Bulletin 62/ F01 Titled "Installation of Pull Switch for Fog Lamps" !!
Good Luck.

Thanks for the info, sorry for the lack of knowledge and stupid that I didn't checked Der White's site and Stoddards first.
In my drivers manual - from 09.1959 - nothing is mentioned about the fog lights.

I have just bought a 1960 T5 B coupe (7/1960) and it has factory fog lights and electric windshield washer (on the Kardex). I will take a picture. The fog light switch and the washer switch for that matter have the small switch tips like the wiper switch. The fog light switch is to the right just over the lighter. The wiper switch is to the left just over the ignition switch. Another interesting note is that there is no sign of a fog light relay on this installation.

Here are some pictures of the configuration on the 1960 coupe that I just bought. As I noted above, it is interesting that there is no fog light relay on this early installation of fog lights. Just on or off.

I think based upon the Kardex, these switches are factory installed.

Eric, thanks for sharing the foto's. nice to have a reference for placing a fog light switch.
Does your car still have the 80 ltr. tank and the Rudge wheels as stated?
Our car is 12/1959 just a lady .. the spec of yours remembers me more on GS or Carrera .....

Eric, is that only a single-speed wiper, or are the two switches different?

The setup and switch Eric show are what your car should have. Search the archives, this has been discussed before

Martin, I'll check, it should be two speed on the wiper, I think.

Helge,

The car still has the 80l tank and the Rudge wheels. Fairly amazing to find locally.

The woman that bought this car picked it up fairly well loaded. I was happy about the factory fog lights.

Appears to be single speed. The wiper switch looks different than the fog light switch.
