Speedster top covering & boot

#1 Post by Roy Smalley »

Oft discussed.....58 Speedster color 5702 A.....'A' signifies tan but what is tan? Interior vinyl yes. Top covering? Boot?

Excepting a 'special' order, what should be original?

The boot is one question. Should the boot be tan? Should it be vinyl as interior?

The top cover color is another. Should it be tan....tops originally were all Hartz, not vinyl.....that I am fairly certain. There are a lot of speedsters out there with tan Hartz tops, but I expect if original, were special order?

We received a comment from a well known expert on another speedster (56 Aquamarine metallic/red) and stated the boot was always vinyl on speedsters, but did not mention material.

Floor mats? Were they originally offered in tan for speedsters? It is my understanding that tan was an option and would be reflected on the Cardex

All comments appreciated.....

See photographs of an original tan Speedster tonneau in Classified window number 129. They might be helpful.
