Anybody willing to share paint formula for Sky Blue 6403

#1 Post by Dave Whittick »

I've purchased a spray out card from Willhoit but it's considerably different than the original paint hiding under my dash cover. Can anybody point me to a source online or provide a correct formula for my 64?

A formula won't get you any closer. The chemicals used in paint changes frequently and is different between brands so after 50 years it would not be any closer than what you've got. If you have original paint under the dash cover and that is what you want to go with then your painter *should* be able to match that.

I am the painter but don't have a mixing room. The car is on a rotisserie so I can't bring it to my local jobber for a digital sample.
I'm hoping that somebody has recently had their car painted with a respectable match and would help by letting me know the brand of paint and formula or, if it was matched from a swatch, the product number and manufacturer.

Perfect!! Thanks. I've played with that site before but couldn't get a result. It's kind of finicky but I got it this time.

Also your jobber should be able to come to the car. Mine does that regularly for me, the scanner is a small hand-held device that they then take back and plug into a computer. Works reasonably well, or at least a close starting point for tinting.

Here's what was used via Bill Hamilton's painter to paint my 1964 C coupe sky blue during this past year:

That was matched to something on your car? It's beautiful.
