floor change

#1 Post by Jules Dielen »

when did the floor change occur from the 'rib' in the rear tunnel section to the 'bulge' later cars had? Is this an A to Bt5 change or a T1-T2 change?
Jules

Water pumps are for windshield washers only.

Jules, I have been working on a 1956, 57, & 58 car during the last 3 years, all with enough of the original floor to determine that all three had the rear center rib you are referring to. The 1958 coupe # 102601 still has its original floor as pictured. When talking with one of the specialty vendors for these cars he does not stamp this rib into his pans and feels the A cars did not come that way. I think 3 different cars from 3 separate years indicates they did. I do not know about the T5-B. Maybe the change occurred when the shifter was changed?

Floor with center rib goes back at least for T-2, maybe earlier. Here's Jim's photo (re-formatted) from under the car and then top side of the Stoddard pan -- BTW, Restoration Design and Zims pan are very similar.
