What is the purpose of this unusual screwdriver? Curious!

My personal thought: to be able to fit into the slot in the generator pulley when you need to replace the belt.

Are you talking about the small stubby? Carb adjustment.

Conrad, do you mean the one with red plastic handle in 911 tool kits?

Here is what a 'duck bill screwdriver' looks like. Black wood handle is early VW, blonde handles are ones I made for my 63 kit. Used for generator belt removal, back half of pulley has a slot and you insert screwdriver in slot and it catches on bolt head keeping generator together and one can loosen pulley nut. Without locking the pulley in place you can't loosen nut. This is the simplest way to get generator nut loose. KTF Daryl 63 super 90

Very nice piece Daryl.
Eric shows the duckbills on his tool site. Red handles starting with the T5B; blonde handles like Daryl's for the T6B and red plastic Kleins for the C. "...tip is flattened and lengthened so that it can be used to hold the pulley from turning when adjusting the fan belt..." Never had one, but now I want one...

Conrad - a WTB ad in the Classified section is the most effective means to canvas the members for items for sale.
And, it doesn't violate the Talk site rules, wink-wink .....

I just looked on eBay and the Samba but only came up with repros. Maybe one to be had at the Lit Show next March?

My brother went to Lit show last year looking for this for me and did not find one. One guy told him to have me contact him since he thought he had one. Turned out he had one with red handle. Still looking!
