Hello - as always, I am appreciative of the knowledge base here.

I have been approached to sell a set of Porsche wheels. My first goal is to make sure exactly what they are (real or reproduction etc) so I can price and sell them accurately to an informed buyer.

They have 19 rivets from the steel centers to the aluminum rims, and are stamped KPZ (for Kronprinz of course).

Anyway, they are all dated 11/62 on the centers, so if they are race wheels, likely RS 61 or RSK and not a 550. However, a few things are making some red flags wave. They have vintage street tires on them - no biggie either way, as they could have been used by a street racer enthusiast, but the aluminum rims look very, very clean. Too clean, you know - at least for race wheels that would have been used on a race car and subject to lug wrenchs, being thrown around and tire changes with hand tools. The current caretaker admits to polishign them, but I would think they might have some more dings and dents. Also, all the centers have hub cap clips. Even if they were authentic race wheels that were somehow gotten into the hands of an SCCA racer or street racer - I don't think they would have *added* hub cap clips, and I don't think the factory would have made them with clips?? Did the factory ever sell them to anyone?

Has anyone ever produced a run or reproductions using genuine centers? Were race wheels only one brand (like Kronprinz or Lemmerz etc)?

Any other help would be welcomed.

are they for 60mm drums or do they have the regular offset for 50mm drums and annulars? are they 4.5, 5.0, 5.5 the latest wheels use a VW center and do not have clips for the hubcaps. I think Richard Konig not Joris had an article about these wheels in the magazine.

BTW Dave Seeland your way is pretty savy on these wheels.

Beyond the date and "KPZ", what marks/numbers/letters are on the centers?

Are the windows same as normal 356 wheels, or oblong like VW wheels?

I'm getting some more detailed photos soon, and hopefully the actual wheels before too long.

They are 5" wide. I am not sure of the offset yet. The openings look like 356 windows to me, not Beetle, but I'll let you guys be the judge.

So they are 6120 10's as shown on the list Brad provided.
62/63 last of the lg. bolt circle.

Ah, can't believe I missed the 6120 10 stamping. At least I know they are real and match to other known wheels, of the same type, stamping and width.

I'll be listing them for sale in the near future.

they are for annular brake cars probably.

Good to know. They were found on a Speedster that was restored sometime in the 1980s, so they do fit drum brake cars as well.

before the T6 the trick cars would have 60mm drums in the front and spacers on the rear. so yes they should work on all A/B 50mm drums.
