What is required to receive COA?

I have posted about my 1963 356b not having the original motor. What is required to receive the COA for the car? Can the motor be in the correct number range for the car or does it have to be exactly what was installed at the factory?

You can get a COA but as I understand it the original engine number will NOT be on the COA unless you give them your engine number and it is original viewtopic.php?f=1&t=44158&hilit=COA Because our cars are now worth 15-20% more when numbers matching there were some stamping unnumbered third pieces to "Make" a numbers matching car to increase profit. Porsche is trying to make this illegal and unethical practice more difficult.

Doug is correct ---- I just ordered a COA .....what a pain as they have changed the format.

correct email address to order your COA coa@porsche.us

here's the jargon they send:
Hello,

We have received your Certificate of Authenticity request. For your security, Porsche Cars North America no longer provides the original engine/transmission numbers on the Certificate of Authenticity unless the owner provides it to us. Your order form does not list the original transmission number. If you are not able to provide the original transmission number or do not notify us of your wish to cancel the order, then we will proceed with you order in 1 week and we will list the transmission number on the COA as 'Not Confirmed'.

Good Luck.

To answer your question:

1. Money
2. Engine serial number
3. Transmission serial number
4. Your trust that they won't make any mistakes......

Isn't the new thing that if you don't provide them the same number as they think is original they just give back the number you gave them and say Not Confirmed?

Chuck
PS they did make a mistake on mine (engine number) and they corrected it.

Here's a summary of the COA & Kardex documents by Brett Johnson:
https://porsche356registry.org/article/242

and here's where you'll find the COA info on the Porsche USA site:
https://www.porsche.com/usa/accessories ... formation/

You'll be money ahead to find & acquire the Kardex first. Then you can provide all the documentation to Porsche and buy a COA if you want one. The COA and Kardex will run you $250 or so total. An attractive alternative is the Karosserie Reutter Certificate of Produktion offered by ERLKÖNIG CLASSIC in Germany for 299,16 € .

Spencer, the reutter certificate will not give the engine or transmission number. It does.provide very good details about materials used.

Thanks Jules, didn’t know that! I’ve only seen photos of others’ certificates.

The Kardex is generally fairly quick, sometime the same day, but generally under a week.
