Interior Black Out Paint

#1 Post by Tom Bridgers »

Are there photos of the "black out" treatment in the interior? This is for a C Coupe.

Thanks!

I am not sure what you are asking? The underside of the dash area was satin black. See John Willhoit's comment on page 2 viewtopic.php?f=13&t=27883&hilit=under+ ... r&start=15 Floors under the rubber mat are satin black also.

Do you mean the black paint to cover the area just below the windshield and quarter windows where you might see past the upholstery? If so I can't describe it exactly, but I think maybe about 1 " wide in those areas, such that the top of the dash (under the padded cover) remains body color.

Years ago, I had cars where quite a bit of the factory black was still good on the pans. I used satin black Rustoleum, and I doubt anyone could tell me where the change took place. Ditto on the trunk-lid hinges, the engine bay, etc.
Maybe Rustoleum was a WWII German formula that got pinched at the end of the war?

That area is painted the color of the interior, so only black if the interior was black.
