Could that be that the change from the preA/early T1 to late T1/T2 version happened around October 56? This is when the first spiral bound owner's manuals version appeared, sure they needed a slightly bigger dimensions for the cover.
Anyway, please count me in for two.
Thanks

Ignacio,

I really think you are correct and this non crest type was used for the early A manuals prior to the spiral manual dated October 1956.

If you look at Der Whites website he has the early non spiral manuals as dated, below not sure on the Pre A's but I would consider this version more like early A's thru around October 56 . My old A that was built in January 57 and was a T 1 had the later version with the crest.

Note as on Der White site Non spiral A manuals :

German TYP 356A version dated October 1955

English TYP 356 Speedster version dated December 1955 ( Note it does not say Typ 356A Speedster, but they ended Pre A Speedsters production in early January 1956, so I consider this manual is really for 356A speedsters )

English TYP 356A version dated January 1956

Just my two cents on the matter.

Thanks,
Jim Stephenson

Ignatio, that sounds like a very good reason.

Drew, thanks for persisting with the PORSCHE version.
I would like two when they become available.

Many Thanks
David

Thank you so much Pete for your feedback.
I am pleased that your friends thought the red colour was accurate.
I have been using three different colours so far.
The first prototype folders (with Crest) were maroon (left sample in picture) but after some feedback it was felt to be too dark so I sourced a light red card from Germany (this is the colour of your folders and the far right card in the picture).
Further feedback from Registry experts suggested that the colour should be a deeper red, so I have had a special run of card embossed with the leather grain in Scotland (the middle card in the picture).
Paper samples_sml.jpg
Trying to match 50 year old card that has been bleached by the sun and generally mis treated over the years is proving to be quite a challenge.
All future orders will be produced from the mid red (centre in picture) unless of coarse anyone wants darker or lighter (the customer is always right).
Thanks again and if anyone want's any of the folders I have been making, just drop me a line.
Regards
Drew

Dear Drew

I have just received the two PORSCHE Covers that you sent to me.
They are fantastic.
I have tried really hard to have all the original pieces, and I'm really grateful for your efforts.

By the way, were you also producing the Fuse Box Labels ?
Two please, if possible.

Regards
David

Hi David
So glad that you liked the folders, yes I am producing the accurate fuse label and the clear plastic cover that protects the label.

Drew,

I just received the Early A version in the medium red color with the PORSCHE name embossed only, no crest.

It looks terrffic !!! I think for the A guys with cars built late 55 to about September 56 this will be as spot on as you can get .

I really like the new color and the new grain and again looks spot on !

Keep up the good work !!

I have just received one of the early type, with the 'PORSCHE' embossed, and all I can say is WOW, what attention to detail, simply superb. The fuse labels are equally fantastic.

Thanks guys for the kind words.
I was looking through my Registry magazine (Vol. 41 No.6 Page 54) and saw Joris Koning's great article on Service Coupon Booklets.
In one of the pictures there was a driver's manual folder with contents and a small paper sticker.
IMG_3817_sml.jpg
After a bit of digging a friend came up with a close up of this label.
It lists the contents of the folder in German, English and French.
But I have a question.
It states that a Christophorus magazine was inside but if my memory serves me correctly the early magazines (1952 through to 1959) were all A4 (210mm X 297mm), too big for the folder.
So did they fold the magazine to fit it in?
DSCF7856_sml.jpg
Anyway I have reproduced the artwork and printed the label on chlorine free paper stock so if anyone wants a new improved folder just let me know.
I think the copy is accurate but coarse if anyone see’s a typo drop me a line and I will amend the artwork.

Drew,
I was going to write you an email about the label but i have been very busy... attached is a photo of the sticker.

These photos of the label and folder are not for the one that came from my car:

s-l1600-1.jpg

As to the christophorus magazine, I have the original magazine that came with my car. It was given to the original owner of my car at the factory when he picked up his car. I am assuming the label on the inside of the Folder was a packing list for whoever was putting these documents together.

These photos of the magazine and the magazine envelope, came with my car

Envelope for Magazine:

Measurements of Envelope:

Measurements of Magazine:

Magazine, Magazine Envelope, and your (early) Reproduction Folder:

If you need anything else, or really exact measurements please do not hesitate to ask.

lastly, would i be able to get 3 of those labels for the folders I previously purchased from you?

Thank you,
Benjamin

Hi Benjamin
Thank you for picking up that typo and for the great close up pictures.
I think you are right it was just a packing list.
I will amend the artwork and get some labels sent out to you in the next couple of days.
