transmission #
Can anybody tell me where I find the transmission #? I have a 1961 VIN #154611, it has the original motor and from my records and the seller the car has only 61,000 miles. it was in storage for 15 years. I have several #'s from my non-Porsche mechanic none of which works for identification.

Re: transmission #
It's the number running fore and aft. The transverse numbers are date of mfr, type and gear set.
Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints.....

The mechanic (not a Porsche specialist) gave me these transmission #’s.. 741.201.101.00 or 741.301.301.03 or KO2457 maybe ko2457 ? None of these numbers seem to fit/work.

Robert, those are the casting numbers for the aluminum housing and front cover.Robert Clippinger wrote:The mechanic (not a Porsche specialist) gave me these transmission #’s.. 741.201.101.00 or 741.301.301.03 or KO2457 maybe ko2457 ? None of these numbers seem to fit/work.
The serial number, type and date codes are stamped into the bottom of the transmission as Wes indicated.
