356C Antenna question

#1 Post by Guido Kwikkers »

I found that my orginal 356 C antenna (Blue point) is not looking nice and more important not straight anymore.
Therefor start looking for a (new) alternative.

I found one from Stoddard (from Hirschman, Germany) but although stated orginal, the form and shape are completely different compared to the one installed previously.

Is the orginal antenna still available or somewhere else? Or is the one from Stoddard the second best to go with?

Thanks,

Guido

You are right: the new ones have a different base and I believe the tip doesn't recess. I, too, have an older blue tip and researched new ones. Stoddard and Keonig in Germany sell them but they are not like yours.

Depending upon how bad the condition of the mast, you could have the base and nut chromed or perhaps someone like Victor Miles could restore the entire assembly for you.

Blue tip antennas are made by Bosch.
FYI, My 65 C came with a Hirschmann antenna (Black plastic tip covering a plain metal tip). The same antenna used in 911s and 912s for a number of years.

The original blue tips were made by Bosch but Hirschmann is selling a blue tip now. I think Keonigs, Stoddard and others are selling the same one. The tip doesn't recess.

Interesting your car came with that type of antenna, Jim. Was it factory or dealer installed? I can envision a dealer installing the latest antenna; one for a 911 or 912.
