'57 Euro Bumper Guards

#1 Post by Rainer Cooney »

I'm helping a friend determine what bumper guards are proper for his Euro delivery '57. I've got quite a collection of US guards with the overrider tubes but only two without. One is narrow and one is wider. I've also seen photos of the Raja units with a 644 part number. Has anyone got an original later '57 without overrider tubes that can enlighten me as to what is proper? I'd like to know what the surface finish was also, chrome, clear anodized, etc. Thanks, Rainer Cooney

HI Rainer,

I am not 100% sure if the change to the narrower Raja guards happened exactly with the T-2 change. I believe this happened a bit later. However there are two versions of the narrow guards. The early ones are bright dipped and very hard to find. I do not believe these had the Raja logo and part number but would need to check my stash. The later guards were chrome plated and had the Raja logo and part number.

Hope this helps a bit,

Joris

Rainer,

'57s without overrider bars originally had the short, wider, forged (not cast) guard which was bright anodized.
