1963 356B T-6 Fuel Petcock Valve Indicator Ring
My '63 Type 356B Driver's Manual has a photo of the fuel petcock rod in the car's interior that shows a metal (?) rod position indicator ring surrounding the rod. It shows the positions as: Open@12:00, Reserve@3:00, and Closed@9:00. My car is lacking this ring, I've searched all of the main Porsche parts vendors, and none seem to carry such a part. Is this one of those infamous impossible to find parts?

Isn't the T-6 indicator ring a rubber part with the letters impressed into it? I think it's 644.201.261.06 "ZU-AUF grommet". Listed in Stoddard's catalog. No illustration.

The metal one is for an earlier car. My '63 has the rubber one.

Yes, it's the rubber one that doesn't seem to be available. And the position indicator marks/letters are different on the metal vs. rubber.

The owners manuals often use stock pictures from earlier publications.
Not to worry as your's uses the rubber grommet.
It helps to fill the letters on the grommet with white paint for easy reference.

It's been a really, really long time since I had to bend down and read what position the petcock was in........
Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints.....

Great stuff Brad. My '62 build, sold early '63 has the metal one still and the positions for that one.

Merv; are you saying your T-6 had the metal ring?

Re: 1963 356B T-6 Fuel Petcock Valve Indicator Ring
Merv's car is RHD, and even though it's T6, still has the under the front hood fuel tank filler.
My RHD late model SC has the fuel filler on the front wing, and therefore has the late RHD fuel tank.
Even so, it still has the metal AUF ZU RES indicator.
If I remember right, the RHD cars never used the last style Fuel Petcock, so that might explain things.
Interesting. Thanks, jim
