See anything non-original with this one? If you think you recognize it, you're right. It is the Maestro "Secrets of the Inner Circle" motor and it is for sale. Story and pics here: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/ ... id=1919083

The problem I have with an engine like that is that it does not produce any more power than if it were kept looking stock. May not be lipstick on a pig but still seems like a lot of unnecessary work and expense, especially in a VW. The price is so far out of my comprehension that contemplating a purchase like this makes me want to spend my money on a 2006 Boxster for the same price.
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

David, my feelings are hurt. I have one just like this in my back shop. It is my emergency spare.

An engine like that or a 2006 Boxster?

I don't find that engine particularly attractive, lots of colors clashing there. The gold could work, but not with red, yellow, teal, orange, etc. The AN fittings not at home (or necessary) there either.

I have seen one of these engines in person, but it did not have the mish mash of colors and looked quite good. The history is very cool either way though.

As for the eagle eyes, I look forward to having my C engine critiqued as I rebuild it stock. We are lucky to have these eyes here!
