Front elbow stiffener -- hole ???

#1 Post by Stephen Masefield »

Have looked but to no avail. I am sure I have seen a discussion about the BIG round hole on the front 'elbow' stiffener...
Can someone please confirm if this hole should or should not be there, for 1957 T1Coupe (may) - before I fix in place...
Thanks

I can't remember for sure but I think some later cars have that for access to a grease fitting.

The hole is for grease fitting access on some models but I don't know which years.

I have a 1957 coupe early - a T1.. Vin No. 59021
There is no hole in the suspension support bracket
the first two pictures are a poor as the bracket that I was using to support the car obscures the view..
the last one is the finished area (car not finished) but again .. a bit poor..
although .. I know there is no hole..

Hole was for access to the lower torsion bar grease fitting on the right side; 1962 T-6 and later. Of course the earlier cars did NOT have the hole because the fitting was on the front of the tube. I don't know if anyone is making a "hole-less" support.

Thanks everyone - from clue-less to hole-less... will plug that hole and mount when appropriate.

Holding the panel back up after reading Vics comments shows the forward facing grease zirk - obvious now ! Thanks Vic.

We will make the diagonal support without the hole. Good to know that the diagonal with the hole is for 1962 and up. Should be on the website in the next couple of weeks if anyone needs.
simple fix, just reprogram the laser not to cut out holes for this part.
