1958 speedster "Porsche" nose badge

#1 Post by Michael s. Marino »

Can anyone tell me the exact length in mm of an original "Porsche" badge (nose of the car)? I ask the question because I am concerned my new Stoddard badge is too long. The reason I question the length of the Stoddard badge is because I have heard owners with known original badges say that the left edge of the "S" in Porsche is the center. My Stoddard badge is centered middle to right edge of the "S". Please help!

As for installation, I understand that the badge is 42 mm below the center of the, the lowest point, of the front hood. (On original noses there is a backing plate welded at the factory and there are 5 holes in it. Mine are closed up with paint and bondo.)

Here's what I come up with 212.725 mm or 8,3/8 " on my original porsche script the center pin is on the left upper bend of the S looking from the front view.
