Curious to see pictures of original T1 rubber tunnel mats. So far I have seen two styles. Who sells the best reproduction?
Many thanks,
Joris

Re: T1 tunnel mats
Joris,
Here is the original pebble-grained tunnel mat from my 56 A Coupé.
When I acquired the car in the 1980's, it had not been registered since 1971.

Re: T1 tunnel mats
Jon,
Thanks for posting the picture. Yours looks like the early T-1 style with the bulge at the heater control. The later T-1 ones do not seem to have this bulge. I have been shopping around for a mat and have come to the realization that none of the sellers sell an accurate mat despite their marketing claims about concours correct etc. At close to $180 a pop you'd tink they would be a bit more like the original ones......
General observation, while parts availability seems to be better then ever, quality seems to be lacking in some instances. Makes you wonder if the big name sellers actually test and evaluate their products before bringing them to market. I do't mind paying a high price but would like to see a quality product which warrants the price.
Excuse my rant....

This is a NOS tunnel mat the part number still on the back the part number is( 356 53 805) just in case it is not legible. I am using it in my 55 cab. Hope this helps.

Cool piece Victor! Thanks for sharing. That mat would indeed be appropriate for a 55 Pre-A but not for a 356A T-1

This is from a 1956 Speedster. The tunnel pebbles seem to be just like the floor mats. I just put the tunnel mat in, fits much better.
