Re: 1958 speedster
IMHO, the Kardex is better than a CoA for its originality if nothing else. Some countries no longer provide CoA's anyway. A friend picked up his '58 356A yesterday, and today received a copy of the original Kardex. There seem to be always folk around with access to a suitable database, or parts of it. I was also able to obtain my Kardex earlier this year without difficulty. I found some critical information that a CoA would never have revealed.

Re: 1958 speedster
A friend obtained the Kardex for his '59 coupe. It only listed the distributor, Hoffman Motors, not the dealer or original owner. The early Kardexes didn't have a lot of info on them. I take it the second owner didn't have any documentation, registration, work receipts, etc. from the original owner. I have the name of the original owner for my car but one previous owner couldn't remember if he bought it from him or was the third owner.
