Thanks for the input, Peter. There had to be someone out there with a clipped fuse box cover or we'll find out this is one of those unfounded Porsche tales.....

Jim: many thanks for the info. It was previously mentioned that this type of installation might be just for the Roadsters. Pics would be especially appreciated!

I conclude the fiber covers were made for another car or original designed for a different fuse block setup. So let's wind up this up for now. Regards, Brad

Thanks for responding Peter! Did you see the fuse box also? The common cover can sit it over the posts so that you never notice them.

My 62 Cab has the clips. I have seen a number of 62 cars with the clips. They seem to have been used on early production (made in 1961) T6 Bs.

Regards

Jim
PS: My Cab has jack clips in the trunk, too. Those only came on early T6 Cabs and early T6 Karmann Hardtops.
I'll try and get pictures but my Cab is up on the lift in my garage and not too accessable at the moment.

Jim! Many thanks! So, narrowing it down, it is looking like the clipped cover is limited to '62 cabs/roadsters built in late '61?

My Roadster was delivered in early February of 1962 and has that fuse box. Coupes and cabriolets had that style also.

Maybe we can narrow down when and on what bodies (Karmann, Reutter, etc.) the clips were used?

Here is my "clipped cover". It is very apparent that Porsche meant all T6s to have the clips by the shape of the cover. I do believe that all very early T6 cars had the clips, not just Cabs and Roadsters.
Early T6 Cabs and Karman Hardtops were the only T6s to get clips to hold the jack in the trunk, though. Again, I believe that Porsche decided to put jack clips in all T6s but changed their mind very early on. All T6s have a hump on the passenger side of the trunk liner to clear the jack. With out the clips the jack will not stay under that hump and usually gets stored in the bottom of the spare tire well.

Ciao

Another ?? Why this fuse panel in a '62 Karmann Hardtop ? This is a scan of a 1976 picture, the car had about 19000 miles on it then. Tank was out to replace that wonderful bottom sender, as well as respraying it while I was there.

Ed, the fuse cover is on the car; that's all it had.
