1955 Continental Coupe Turbo Rings

#1 Post by Jason Hertzberg »

Is there anyone that specializes in restoring the turbo rings? Mine are fairly nice but were painted at some point. I understand that they should be raw aluminum (?). Also, has anyone had any luck with having 16" wheels straightened? I have seen Boltons and Stockton Wheel mentioned. I called the phone number listed (for Boltons) in prior posts but the voicemail answers as "Perfect custom made wheels". I guess I'm looking for someone that has personally had their early wheels done for a real recommendation. Thanks...

Hi Jason, they were anodized aluminum, so they have a bright surface, but not polished. Polishing would be impossible given their shape. Perhaps you can remove the paint with as mild a solvent as you can, a solvent that would not attack the anodized surface? In the end, you may just need to paint them anyway, to give them a good finish, matching the paint to the original anodize color. Mine are in worse shape than yours.

It has been posted here earlier that as of January 1, 2016 Perfect Custom Wheels is the successor to Bolton.

I think I'll try to strip them and see what they look like. Is Boltons successor good as well or totally new shop?

Understood. As the info mainly pertains to chroming, has anyone had wide 5 steel wheels straightened?
