'No code' paint code plate source?
Hi All,
Does any vendor sell the paint code plates that don't show the paint code?
(Any ideas why these were used? And when?)
Thanks for any leads.

Adam:
I checked the usual sources for you as I am sure you did as well, and came up empty.
If you have the original plate, maybe it can be restored. If not, maybe one can be fabricated for you from a plate with the blank space?

I checked his site and came up empty. Perhaps, Adam, you can contact him or one of the other vendors to see who is making them, get their contact info and ask them if it's possible to make the plate you need.

Michael,
Adam needs the one that has no paint code number on it, the one on that web page is the more common one with the paint code stamped on it.
#103526 1958 A coupe, the subject of Neil's Book, had that same tag.

Re: 'No code' paint code plate source?
Thanks everyone. Sebastian is right. I am looking for the plate that has no provision to stamp a paint code. I searched but did not find a commercial source.
I am still curious if anybody knows why and over what chassis range these plates were used. They seem like an odd plate to affix. I noticed a few other 56-57 T1 cars, and the 58 from Neil's Book, have this plate.
Maybe people with such a plate on an original hinge cover could post their chassis number and we can collect some data around its occurrence. Or send me a message and I can collate the info and post later.
Thanks.

Maybe a way to go is scan a picture ofone and see if someone can make them up for you. You raise some interesting questions: why no paint code and how many cars had/have this plate.

My cabriolet, chassis # 150264 (a T2 built early in calendar year 1958--the 1958 range was 150150 to 151531) also has a KUNSTHARZLACK tag with no color code.Adam Johnson wrote:Thanks everyone. If any of you are still looking, I have made a very small run for the registry guys.

I have the hinge plate, chassis number: 57031 with subject Kunstharzlack plate. I think that car was built about 9/1/56 but no proof of the actual date.
