Pre-A Radio Delete Plate PORSCHE script

#1 Post by Dennis Molnar »

There is a small PORSCHE script that is placed off center to the right and above the lower horizontal rib On Pre-A cars without a radio or the dummy Porsche gauge. They are b]very hard to come by. I have one off an original setup that is silver in color. It looks original in color and is non metallic. Probably aluminum? I have also seen them in gold. Were there different ones used in different years? Anyone have an insight on these?

Dennis,
I believe these were only used in 54 and possibly 55. They did come in chrome? and gold, I have only seen the gold ones. I still have one of these little guys in my collection there was another thread on these not to long ago.

P.S. The image with the red back ground came from the previous thread on this topic. I think it shows the front and back... the script was glue on.

The Gold one, I can only assume they were adhered by an adhesive.

These definitely weren't used in '53 or earlier. The dummy gauge was used instead.

Was this the first physical use of the now-ubiquitous Porsche script? Didn't it also appear on the owner's manual cover in 1954 as well?

Does anyone have one of these small logos in hand to measure length and height of it? Thank you already in advance.

I’m looking for one of the gold Porsche scripts. They were also used on very early 1956 A radio blank plates.
