If your clear lenses are yellowed, a way to get that yellow cast off them is to soak them in hydrogen peroxide in sunlight for a day or two. I have done this with the front beehive lenses with success.

Do all 356 and 356A shine down light bulb holders have the (superfluous?) ground terminal??

Donald,
My '53 and '55 pre-A shine downs have the ground terminal as pictured. The shine up light that came on my '58 T2 A (I've no idea if the assembly was original to the car) has the ground wire attached to the center mounting stud. Sorry, I don't have any knowledge of the setup on T1 cars.

Don, the '53 shine-down from my car and others I've seen have the unused ground too. Perhaps it was used on earlier units when the rear-facing lens was red on the '52 and earlier cars? Perhaps someone with an earlier car can comment.
