Here is my entry for the coolest liner yet.

HI Jim,

I agree that it is the coolest one pictured hands down, but the one Jim Kellog described (ladies sunbathing on the beach) would win if we had proof. As they like to say (teasingly) on other forums "pictures or it didn't happen!"

Sebastian:
Were these "anti squeak" liners only in 64-65 years. My ashtray which I believe is original to the car (1963 T-6 Coupe) is much different. It has a spring on the bottom. but no liner. here is a top and bottom picture.

Hi Alex,

The liner is actually on the bracket attached to your dasboard, not on the ashtray itself.

Removing the bracket is quite easy, let us know what you find. 8)

Speaking of ashtrays, mine has rust/corrosion inside the tray and on the bottom. Is there a way to rid this stuff and can the tray be disassembled to get at it?

This stuff works great. I bought some at Harbor Freight. (Wow, it rhymes!)

For a moment, a serious question: What is the function of the two up-raised tabs? Do those clip over the back edge of the dashboard? or are not used in the Porsche application?

Brad,

The tabs slip over the bottom rear edge of the dash, at least through the B model.
I'm not sure about the C with it's lower dash extension.
