Factory sunroof coupes (I thought they were rare)

#1 Post by John Lamorte »

I have always been told that the factory sunroof coupes were very rare, but lately it seems that a ton of coupes for sale have sunroofs.

Am I wrong that this type of car is rare? Any thoughts?

They are. When new, Sunroof coupes cost about the same premium as a Cabriolet.

Could just be coincidence and a lot of them happen to be for sale right now.
Also could be some of the economics of age coming to play. Sunroof cars cost more, so they were worth more, and it's still true today. So,..if you're parting out a car, you'd probably not part out the sunroof model to save a coupe,..also,..many of the sunroofs were clipped off and put on other cars if the sunroof car was just too far gone. It would be interesting to see what percentage of sunroof cars are around today as compared to the percentage of coupes. Yes, overall numbers would definitely favor regular coupes,.but as a percentage it would be interesting to know.
