Most of the taillight and turn signal housings that I’ve seen had stampings in the form of a 3-digit number placed in an oval/racetrack shape.
I have attached a picture of my turn signal housing which is the K12627 type. I only can recognize a ‘6’ (or ‘9’ but most likely a 6). But that’s all. In the following article there’s a picture from Jim Breazeale that shows a K12627 with a 408 stamp. http://porsche356registry.org/resources ... types.html
SWF used letters as a datestamp so what do these different numbers mean?
Also attached is a picture of my taillight housing. I noticed a ‘West Germany’ stamp. The number is almost completely faded/rusted away. I have seen a screw-connector type taillight which was stamped with ‘308’.
Has anyone seen a West Germany stamp on a taillight housing before?
Which number (or numbers) was (were) used on a bullet-connector type taillight?
Thanks!

Re: SWF stamps on turn signals / taillights
Etienne,
I have three NOS K12627 turn signal assemblies. Two that were purchased together clearly show the numbers 432 in a circle. The third light shows the numbers possibly as x45?. Sorry but the numbers are blurred. I will try to take photos and post them later if you wish, but it is difficult photographing chrome.

Thanks for sharing the information. I have 4 different numbers now; 408, 432, x45 and xx9 (or xx6). No logical sequence to me, except that 2 of them start with a '4'. Random numbering? I don’t know, but it makes it easier to choose a number out of these.

Here's the photo of the stamped numbers (432) in an oval on a pair of NOS turn signals- K12627.
