Routing washer tubing under dash?

#1 Post by Adam Johnson »

On a T1 '57 coupe, is there a 'factory original' way to route the black washer fluid tubing under the dash, or do you just make sure it runs above the wires?

There are two angled brackets mounted to the upper underside of the dash that have holes that look just about right for the tubing, but maybe those holes are for radio installation?

Also, does the supply tube coming from the old style foot pump have a correct routing path?

Thanks.

Hi Adam,
I can't answer your question, but don't run any rubber hoses through a hole without a grommet. I don't believe Porsche ran those tubes there.

Adam,
Yes those holes are for the radio support hanger. I believe the hoses just sort of hang there by their own.

Were the original washer hoses black or clear? Any change in color over the years?

Thanks,

Brad's NLA Parts online catalog lists the black hose as for 'up to T6B.'

The 58 in Neil's book has black tubing. The original looking washer bag listed in the classifieds has black tubing.

Stoddard's old paper catalog listed only clear hose. Maybe the advent of clear hose was with the C model...?
