1957 Speedster Speedometer location
The speedometer on my newly acquired Speedster is on the right of the steering wheel. I was told by a friend this was incorrect and it should be located to the left of the steering wheel. I checked many photos online and I see it located in both locations. It seems the earlier Speedsters were on the left while the later cars were on the right. I am new to Porsche so any help would be appreciated.

Re: 1957 Speedster Speedometer location
Thanks, Do you know if all years were set up this way. The later cars I have seen on line seem to be on the right. RM Auctions sold a 58 Speedster last year in AZ that was one of the nicest I had ever seen. The restoration was done by Tim Goodrich. The Speedo was on the right. Thanks again for your help.

1956 definitely on the left. Sometime in 1957 it moved to the right; presumably so the navigator could keep an eye on it; and so could your wife.
Can't tell you exactly when. What's your chassis number?

Re: 1957 Speedster Speedometer location
The speedometer for T1 Speedsters, 1956 and 1957, was located on the left side of the tachometer, for T2 it was on the right side. The photo below is from an unrestored 1957, 83124.
