Tachometer Cable length

#1 Post by Art Andersen »

I received and installed a new cable from NLA for my 59 356A and found that no matter how I tried the cable was too short. I finally got it to install under the floor board by lengthening the slot in the floor board and getting the cable to traverse over the top of the 3-4 valve cover. It will not fit when installed with the body clip at the edge of the opening for engine sheet metal on the 3-4 side. Has anyone else had this propblem? Even with these adjustments the rubber mat at the top doesn't lay flat at the top of the floor board. Because it is now laying on the top of the valve cover I am sure it is only a matter of time before the cable will overheat and become toast. Any suggestions would be appreciated. What is the length supposed to be? :(

Tach cable for pushrod cars is supposed to be 4000 mm long. For 4-cam 3640 mm long.
