That makes two, four wrench bags with the maroon leather pouch for the red/maroon bakelite Messko....hmmm, wonder if the 'absolutely correct' gray pouch tale around the campfire is burning a little lower now?

Got my Bynocks out this morning to watch some quail nesting in my hedge, and noticed the clasp on the case looked exactly like the toolbag clasps we have been seeing on "C" toolkits. So if you need a clasp, and can't find one, get a Bushnell Bynocks case!

EASY Jim, get any good pics from North South to add to this thread? Looks like out of all the C/SC cars out there, only a few of us must have tool kits, since no other pics are showing up.

Regards,
George

Most, if not all, of the C owners parked their cars and left to look at other cars. I did the same thing. I wish C owners would come forward and post pictures of their tool kits. Again, there is no right or wrong and nobody will get flamed for posting pictures.

OK Jim, here is the tool kit that came with my '64 C coupe. It includes a screwdriver I bought from Harvey Rosenthal, a knock of a 10 - 11 wrench since mine was cut in half, presumably to remove carb nuts, a new Pudenze fuse pack, and a tire gauge I found on Ebay. Notice, though, the original Phoenix fan belt, dated, 02/4.

Pics below are of the tool pouch original to our '65 356C Karmann coupe (221004 - late '64 production) after it was cleaned up and "restored". I don't have the before cleanup pictures, but it looked pretty much like Dan Schaefer's as posted on page one of this thread. However, the chrome clips were not very rusted on ours and they polished up pretty well.

Cleaned the exterior (black) ribbed vinyl and applied some 303 Aerospace Protectant. It is actually a darker black than the photos seem to show.

The inside "light off white / gray" colored vinyl was dirty and stained, but it cleaned up well with the careful application of some lacquer thinner. I then used SEM brand "ColorCoat" vinyl coating (#17033 "Light Parchment"). Color was near perfect match to the original. I still have a bit of stitching repair to do.

Missing about 1/3 the tools, so will be looking for the balance as time and $$ permit.

Regards,

Bill

I always thought the white insides didn't come out until the introduction of the 912 kits. This could be a game-changer.

Adam,

I think our '65 coupe (221004) is among the last 500 C's produced. The inside isn't really "white" so much as a very light gray or "dirty white" color. Dan Shaefer's '64C tool bag on page one of the thread is the same color (the inside of his would probably clean up much like mine did prior to re-coloring with the vinyl/fabric coating). It also looks like the black vinyl on his is the same texture as ours: very fine straight "ribs" (definitely not the faux leather look or smooth like some that have been pictured).

Anyone else out there with a late 356C that has the same color combination?

Bill

Judging from the lack of responses, these tool kits are far more valuable than I thought.
