Derrington 17"

#1 Post by John Langer »

Hi All,

Some years ago I replaced the Derrington steering wheel from my RHD 59'A with an original standard wheel purely because I prefer the stock wheel. The Derrington has been stored for nearly 10 years now and whilst going through some parts I recently remembered I had it and thought it a shame the wheel is not being used and I am thinking of parting company with it.

My question is, how desirable are these wheels and does anyone know what a fair value is? It is a 17 inch version which I have been told would likely be a special order item, not sure if this is true as I know very little about these wheels.

Any comments much appreciated.

Thanks,
John

John

Are you sure that the wheel is 17"? It sure looks like a 16" wheel to me. Derrington wheels are period correct wheels for A models and appeal to those owners. Your's is a nice one and includes the turn signal cancellor ( a very hard to find part) on the back of the hub. I do not give value estimates, though. That is up to you and your buyer.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for you comments, any information is good no matter how small.

Just double checked so excuse the measuring tape but some pictures attached, the outside diameter is 17". Is this fairly unusual then?

Thanks guys, like I said, any info is good. Not sure if the 17" wheel version makes it more or less desirable as most appear to be smaller but I guess it makes it somewhat different from the norm.

Thanks,
John

Got mine more than 10 years ago... do not remember the price and see it as an attractive design. Mine is 17" as well. A similar size to the factory wooden VDM.
