1953 Bent window Wipers

I am confused about wich windshield wipers my 53 originally came with. can anyone one be so kind to light me with a picture and messures. now I have the same installed as in my 52 but I dont think those are correct for a 1953, wiper motor and transmision system is also very different.

Omar, you've asked for people to post photos of their 1953 wiper arms, but you haven't posted photos of the arms that are on your 52 and 53. It would be helpful to see what you have.

And please keep in mind that wiper arms are very easily replaced, so it is hard to be sure what is "original" unless one is the original owner. Also, easily replaced parts were often "updated" later with whatever was available, as Brett Johnson notes on page 54 of his Authenticity book.

Will take some shoots and post, I am pretty sure the ones on my 52 are correct, can't find my Dr. Johnson black book, found the white one but there is no image reference on that one. thanks.

I believe that the blades that you show are close but not the original SWF as installed by the factory.

Looks very similar, screw connector etc.. , I imagine is the size whats incorrect. right?
What I have now messures the same as the 50-52 blade so I supossed it was correct.
I still have the box of those SWF will look for the code and size on it.

Omar, look carefully at my pictures and you will see that the construction of the blade is very different from yours. This is the blade which the period SWF literature I have lists as being for 356's

Perhaps a little off topic, but what is the "action" of your wipers when turned on? Mine are very obviously mistimed, but sweep downwards about an inch before reversing to sweep across the windshield. They are wired correctly and the park position is consistent. I do not have the Boudin cable style.

I will check on that for you Murray, but I remember to sweep correctly, perhaps its something related to the arm links adjust or... are you positive you have installed the correct swf wiper motor? there are several types and all look a like.

Most original '53 photos I have found show wiper arms and blades like the ones on your '52, that is the round "wire" type arms and the flat blades. I checked the photos that Charlie White found of a new '53 coupe, the photos from Life magazine of a new '53 coupe and the photos of an early '53 cab that was said to be very original. It could be that the change in wiper style occured in mid '53.
