Rocker Deco Moulding Trim for a C

#1 Post by Alan Lay »

I purchased a repro rocker deco moulding for my '60 cab from one of the 356 members. I had installed a new rocker on my cab and needed to drill holes for mounting. No problem.

However, I then tried the rocker deco moulding on my C coupe which is factory original with existing holes. The repro rocker deco moulding studs did not line up with the existing holes in the rocker.

Do I need to find original rocker deco moulding or should a repro line up?

Alan,
I had the same issue a few years ago.
I bought the repro deco moldings from one of our esteemed vendors and of course they didn't fit into the existing holes on the rocker panel.
I removed the rubber from the aluminum molding (easy) along with the studs behind the rubber, and drilled holes in the repro aluminum molding to fit the spacing of the rocker's holes.
Then I put the rubber molding back in the aluminum (not quite as easy but doable) and installed them on the car.
Don't drill new holes in the car...drill 'em in the repro moldings.
