interior door handles

members in the course of resto ,a 59 Acab i realized the window cranks were marked V.W. after reading a few FORUM notes ,I'm still confused. did PORSCHE utilize V.W. parts at that point? there are several opinions, anyone with a definitive answer??? tom

Yes, you will find a VW part number and manufacturer's logo on the underside of the handle. Same casting but with the Porsche knob riveted on in place of the VW version. "Brand Engineering" in the old days.

brad the handles are titled" 111/113-837-583A are these what ur describing? thx,tom

Tom, the pictures you show are of VW handles with VW knobs. Porsche used different knobs on the same handles as Brad says. So yours never saw the inside of Werk II in Zuffenhausen. =)

And of course the stamping changed over time too. They all had "VW" logo stamped on them, but early ones did not have the part number. See below for the stamping from 1953, which has the logo and "JDE" stamped there. No part number.

Also the VW 3x3 part numbers (such as 113.837.583) didn't exist until late 1954, and also probably changed over time, as the part changed.

Also the part number up through (at least) 1960 was 113.837.581, so I expect the ones pictured above are from a later VW.
