I would like to have a survey of pre A split window owners.
Four questions:
What year is your car?
What is the number on the brake light lens on your car?
what is the number on the tail light of your car
Do you believe these are original?

Re: Pre A split window brake light
Hi guys. I wired the tail lights to the center brake light on my '52. I drive my cars and wanted as much rear protection as possible. The glass on the center light is so dark, it is hard to see during the day, even with a 12v conversion.

Re: Pre A split window brake light
This is going to mess things up. Reutter Cabriolet #5134. Heavy, cast Hella unit unlike the rest we typically see on early Pre-A cars. I'll take a photo and weigh it on our piston scale it you all would like. Brake light lens is dark red...pretty typical. Unit is off of the car and I cannot tell if it's original...sorry. Guessing this unit is twice as heavy as the stamped steel unit.
This car has been inside since 1973, and it has not been on the road since '68.

Re: Pre A split window brake light
Hi Tom,
Next time you´re over here in Europe...Bad Camberg might be a good place to start, take look at one of the black funeral trailers made by Westfalia. I´ll bet you find something that looks pretty much like the one you have on your car. Occasionally I see these things at German swapmeets.
Yours just might be a modified version as I seem to remember that the Westfalia ones are missing the brake light.
Maybe our mutual friend in Belgium has one of those trailers in his collection.
See you soon,
Paul
